Gwen Garwood Turns Heads at Kinsman Kart Track in Dixon, CA
by Josh Garwood

This weekend Gwen Garwood Racing headed to windy Dixon, CA for the 2nd race in the All-Star Karting championship. The team arrived at the Kinsman Kart track late on Saturday night to setup the pit and get a good rest for Sundays race.
Gwen started off Sunday morning once again turning the heads of her competition. Gwen's dad sent her out in the back of the pack for her first practice session so she could practice passing the other kids. Practice concluded and mom's, dad's and spectators were commending Gwen on how fast she was in practice.
When qualifying rolled around, Gwen was focused and ready to go. Gwen put the Torchmate Racing / Kartel motorsports kart on the pole for her first pole of her short career.
In the pre-final Gwen started from p1 and fell to 2nd by turn 1. Coming onto the front straight Gwen pulled out to pass to retake the lead. Gwen led lap 1-5 before falling to the 3rd position. She would finish 3rd.
In the final Gwen would start 3rd. And run in this position till the Red flag came out on lap 8 when the 2nd place kart tried to pass for the lead and flipped over. This put Gwen in 2nd for the restart. On the restart Gwen fell to 3rd and ran there for the final 4 laps trying to race for the lead. The top 3 finished nose to tail with Gwen finishing 3rd and her best finished ever!!! |
